This introduction into the History of Architecture and Urban Design consists of an overview from about 1750 to the early 20th century. The series, consisting of seven lectures, provides an insight into the history of Western urban design and architecture and its context using a chronological-thematic framework. The themes for this broader culture-historical approach will be focusing on revolutionary developments, long and strong tendencies and traditions within architecture as well as life within the fast developing (modern) urban landscape. Developments in urban and architectural design, and their historical interaction, will be explored within the context of their shared theoretical and cultural background.
