This studio focuses on Chong Ming Island. This agricultural island near the explosively growing metropolis of Shanghai is in a state of decline. The task involves designing a economically, socially and ecologically sustainable strategy for the island. Important part of the task is the cooperation between architects, urban designers and urban managers (from the IHS): starting from their own discipline they have to develop the strategy together, while striving to make maximum use of each others’ expertise.
